Pádraig Mac Oscair is a writer from Donegal based in Dublin. His writing can be read in Flotsam, Socialist Voice and Mionlach or on substack.com/@pmacoscair. His first play, Muinín, was premiered at Oireachtas na Samhna in November 2025.
Irish support for Palestine was neither automatic nor inevitable. Pádraig Mac Oscair traces six decades of patient organising up to our present moment, where historically high solidarity meets historically high barriers to change.
From the preservation of Gaeltachtaí in the 26 counties, to the emergence of new ones in the North and revival through Gaelscoileanna in the South, three distinct traditions of Irish language activism have taken shape. Their achievements represent a partial yet ongoing process of decolonisation.
